I week ago Thursday, I took a tick off my leg just above the ankle. It was just barely attatched. Now, I have a round red blister with white shiny top, with redness extend out from it a little. I realize that not all tick bites are infectious but how do you know when to get medical treatment. It is also tender to touch.
when it kinda starts to look like a “bulls eye”, you need to get tested for lyme disease also, a bloodtest. you just need to make sure it doesnt get infected, you can get cellulitis and may need an antibiotic.
Now! Just because you pulled off the tick doesn’t mean that you got the whole thing. You can pull the body off and the head will remain and keep feeding. It may have embedded itself. So don’t delay just to play it safe see a doctor now.
go to the er right away?
if you are worried about ot go see a doctor, it is always better safe than sorry.
Draw around the redness (use a blue ball point pen), if the redness keeps getting larger in diameter, seek help at the ER. If not, than you’re in good shape so far. Keep the area clean. If you notice pus underneath, try to get rid of it, and once again keep it clean. Watch your temperature also. If it goes up above normal by one degree, seek help at ER.
You should seek medical attention if a tick bite is red or swollen or…um, gosh, you have a blister? You definitely need to see a doctor. Tick-borne diseases suck and are better treated early.
